First you go through a gate to the right of the bridge, entering Coedydd Aber National Nature Reserve and take the path in front of you through the woods with the river on your left. Next you turn left over a footbridge, go through a metal gate and turn right to keep along a clear, broad track up to the falls, whcih you can see for much of the way (about 1.25 miles). The track climbs gently and proceeds through a mixture of woods and meadowland. As you get closer to the falls, you will need to climb some steps, passing through a kissing gate to continue up to the base of Rhaeadr-fawr ('the Big Fall'). the main and most dramatic fall.
If it is a nice day, you can find a good sized rock to sit on to eat your sandwiches and drink your tea!
Then it is a case of retracing your steps back to your care, as this route avoids any stiles.
