"Alyn Waters is Wrexham's largest country park" claims the brochure. This didn't particularly fill me with confidence as I wasn't aware Wrexham was famed for it's country parks.
How wrong I was to be doubtful. This place is pretty big and boasts 5 waymarked routes ranging from 3/4 mile to 2 miles. And if you havet the map you can link them together in various ways to make your own versions.
The park itself is on the banks of the River Alyn, split into 2 distinct areas either side of the river. Note, there is only once bridge across to the South of the park. Aside from the river the park offers a nature reserve, trees, fields and lots of scrubland. There are dozens and dozens of sculptures dotted around the waymarked walks offering even more to grab your attention.
Dogs are allowed off leads just about everywhere and the paths are easy going and flat, many with good access for wheelchairs. They are often used by cyclists too so watch out.
So all in all, I was impressed. Car parking was free, there were enough walks to keep you busy for ours and it even has a cafe.
