Chewton Bunny, Dorset
Chewton Bunny From Christchurch Dorset Take the A35/A337 through Highcliffe [5 miles]. Just before the Hampshire border, take Mill Road on right. Drive to end and park at right side of road. Take the right hand path and follow it, you will come to some steps a bit further on, you can go down them and the dogs can have a splash in the stream, or if you stay on the top path you will come to the view displayed. You have just come through Chewton Bunny, which was an old smuggler's run, taking contraband from the beach to the Cat & Fiddle pub on the A35 through Walkford.

Carry on down to the beach. If you look to the right you will see Hengistbury Head, A prehistoric Roman Fort, with the Purbeck Hills beyond. Look to the left, and you will see the Isle of Wight and the Needles. At low to medium tide you can walk that direction till you come to Milford and Sea, dogs are alloowed on this walk all year. On the way there are cliffs with fossils. Walk to the right [west] and you will head toward Muscliffe where the beach is sandier, but dogs are only allowed in parts, from April to end October. On the top of the cliffs this walk, there is Highcliffe Castle.

Summary
Retrace the steps of smugglers!

Notes
The walk to the right [east] will require going up the cliff path to Barton on sea to the very nice Beachcomber tea rooms, toilets etc. On the right [west] you can have tea in Highcliffe castle, or walk into Milford which is busier.
