Connaught Water, Epping Forest
Connaught Water Connaught Water is one of my favourite places in Epping Forest and a wonderful place to take your dog for walk. Connaught Water itself is a lake teaming with fish and wildfowl and from the car park it's steady walk all the way around it. The only thing to look out for is it can get a little muddy in places after heavy rain. There are benches all the way round should fancy a rest or a picnic. If you are feeling more adventurous however there are a couple of paths leading on to much bigger walks. There is one about 1/3 of the way around (clockwise) that leads you to a huge field and a bridleway and another 2/3 of the way round which leads you down a path with numerous subsequent paths on the left leading you into the woods. Be warned though, keep your bearings, we've been lost before once we strayed from the main path around the lake. Dogs can roam freely and if it's warm enough there's usually an ice cream waiting for you on your return to the car park.

Summary
A beautiful lake with longer walks in every direction.

Notes
There's a car park and usually an ice cream van! No stiles.
