Walks
Hardcastle Crags, Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire
Stepping Stones at Hardcastle Crags From the Midgehole car park, you're offered a number of circular routes all starting out from the same point. You can deviate off in various places but I suggest sticking to the routes as some of them are pretty long so there's plenty to keep you busy. The walks are colour coded and clearly laid out on the map at the car park. Many are simplly the shorter walks with a further trail added on. But they're all clearly marked along the way and you unlikely to get lost. The walks themselves take you up and down the steep woodland banks of, and indeed sometime across via stepping stones, Hebden Water. The higher you go, the more spectacular the views. There are some fantastic features to look out for along the way including Hardcastle Crags themselves, Slurring Rock and Fisherman's Cave. There are also some wonderful viewpoints. This is a favourite haunt of serious walkers which bodes well for the delights instore.

Dogs are free to roam wherever they wish at Hardcastle Crags but do take care as there as some tricky parts to some of the walks. I highly reccomend getting hold of the "Discover Hardcastle Crags - Events and Waymarked Trails 2003" before you go to help you get the best out of your visit. Please email hardcastlecrags@ntrust.org.uk to get hold of a leaflet... I'm sure they'll be happy to help.

Summary
Steep woodland walks promising wonderful views.

Notes
Pay and display car park (National Trust). It can be a bit steep and rocky in places so put your best walking shoes on. Some of the walks can also take longer than you think due to the terrain so be prepared. There are picnic benches dotted around all over the place. I've not come across any stiles.
