The New Forest is a wonderful place full to bursting with great places to walk. One of my favourites is Hatchet Pond which is the largest lake in the New Forest and offers a lovely walk around it's perimeter.
The terrain is pretty easy going and there are 2 ample car parks and some great picnic spots... half way round are some nice little grassy outcrops and nearer the car park are some solid traditional picnic benches.
Your dog is more or less free to roam as you're unlikely to bump into any of the famous New Forest horses but there are one or two resident wild donkeys in the car park so keep pooch on a lead until you're well clear and watch out when you're reversing!
