Irchester Country Park, Northamptonshire
Irchester Country Park is a place we found by accident. We were on a long journey and were stopping off to see friends in the area. So we thought we'd better let the dog out for a walk first and get bit of fresh air. So armed with the road map we saw the words "country park" and decided to give it a try. What a great place we stumbled across. Although a little muddy from the bad rain we've been having there were woods and fields galore, very little litter and loads of doggy bins. The car park has a nominal pay and display fee which I urge you not to dodge, partly because it's the right thing to do as these parks don't get much funding as it is, but also because the car park next to us had a parking ticket on it's windscreen much to the disgust of it's jogging owners. Apparently there is a visitors centre though we never saw it... it must have been near another car park... it's 200 acres and the Nene Way passes right through it.
