During my last holiday in the Scottish Borders, we made frequent trips to Kielder, as there were so many lovely places to walk dogs and to let them swim.
You can buy maps from the 3 Visitor Centres or just follow the wooden posts which are located at key points as guides.
My favourite walks were Lewisburn and the longer of the two walks from the Tower Knowe visitor centre, both walks take about an hour.
The Lewisburn walk follows the burn through the forest. There are quite a few places where the dogs can cool off in the water.
The Tower Knowe walks start at a little beach, where my dogs had great fun. (NB. You can get a lovely pot of coffee and some huge fruit scones from the restaurant at Tower Knowe. They also serve hot meals. I didn't try one personally but they did look good).
