Walks
Oxwich, Nr Swansea, South Wales
Derek and I and our dogs always go on this walk when we stay at the Gower. It starts at the beach Oxwich which has a private car park (which is very reasonable). Just follow the beach along past the beach toilets and one of the refreshment sites. Go down on the beach (you are able to walk along even if the tide is in) just keep walking until you come to the river entrance. Turn up towards the forest and then you will find a bridge across the river. We always stop here for a rest and let our dogs Sasha and Grace have a game in the river. It is so peaceful, you can listen to all the birds and sometimes if you are lucky you see some Buzzards.

Set off again over the bridge and carry on further along the beach. If the tide is out you are able to gain access to Tor Bay beach you are able to go over towards Three Cliffs Bay. But you are unable to get to it because of rocks. If you need a rest before you return there are some nice places to sit and let your dogs have a good splash in the sea. When you return to the river crossing do not return by the beach there is a walk through the sand dunes (so we can get our exercise). Plenty of flowers to see. Always keep the fence an your right and you will come out just before the toilets. If you need a coffee or other refreshments the hotel is at the end of the beach or there is a coffee shop through the car park.

Summary
A beautiful and rewarding Welsh coastal walk with plenty to see.

Notes
Dogs are allowed on this beach all year round. The complete walk is around 8 miles but we sometimes only do half up to the river and back.
