Festival 2003
Bakewell, Derbyshire
Outside the Information Centre And the good news is, it didn't rain! In fact the weather was very good to us, a little sun but a nice occasional breeze and plenty of cloud cover.

We all met (6 people, 5 dogs) at the Bakewell Tourist Information Centre and then set off on the 6.25 miles walk Pete (Mooredale) had provided from Bakewell to Ashford in the Water, and back. We set off via a field along the river and the dogs quickly introduced themselves and were soon bounding around chasing each other and causing havoc. A small hill climb took us to the old railway track that is the Monsal Trail.

Dax in the river A few fields later and the odd hapless clamber of me lifting Laddie over a stile and we found ourselves in Ashford in the Water in a perfect picnic spot complete with river, stone bridge and benches. Dax took this as a perfect opportunity to stand in the waters edge for seemingly ever waiting for someone to throw stones for him to chase. Bless.

After watching in disbelief at a large troop of minature motorbikes zoom past we headed up into some woods, through a field favoured by Llamas, across a cricket pitch and back into Bakewell where a refeshing pint awaited us while we sat outside the pub.

One of many lovely fields All in all, we had an excellent day... thanks to everyone who came and special thanks to Pete for sorting out the walk itself. So see you all next year and everyone out there, come along!!
